The San Jose Chamber of Commerce building, constructed in 1942, urgently requires significant upgrades including a new cooling system, plumbing, and a secure front door.
Chamber CEO Leah Toeniskoetter emphasized the importance of these renovations, stating, 'It's an absolutely beautiful building, and as usually happens, maintenance is really hard to keep up, especially as a nonprofit organization.'
Toeniskoetter expressed urgency for repairs, especially for the front door, saying it 'isn't secure enough and has led to multiple break-ins', illustrating the need for immediate action.
Further renovations will address the community room's sound system and lighting, as current conditions hinder hybrid meetings, which are essential for community engagement.
