Endangered frogs threatened by California wildfires once again. A rescue could be in order
Briefly

The federally endangered frogs are "a high priority because these fires are in the only known locations" for the species, according to Hans Sin from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
As soon as it's safe, he said, staff will trek into the craggy hills and assess what happened to the frogs, stating that "we might need to do a rescue of said frogs."
Depending on what they find, Sin mentioned that rescue efforts could involve hiking them out in coolers to zoos or relocating them to other sustaining streams.
Each population is small and highly susceptible to stochastic events, especially wildfire, as indicated in a five-year status review by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
