Elon Musk's X, the social network formerly known as Twitter, will close its San Francisco office, moving employees to offices in San Jose and Palo Alto.
Musk has been vocal about his disdain for San Francisco's left-leaning culture and blamed it for making Twitter too liberal, deciding to relocate the company's headquarters to Texas.
The move marks the end of X's long history in San Francisco, where Twitter was founded almost 20 years ago, with Market Street office since 2012.
San Francisco's office-vacancy rate is over 36%, with Musk's relocation of X employees contributing to the struggle faced by the slow-returning city post-Covid-19.
