"For more than two years, Plaintiff lived in an ongoing state of anxiety, sleeplessness, and exhaustion because he was unable to work, relax, or sleep at his home without the constant interruption of blaring music, pounding bass, and the noise of boisterous crowds," the lawsuit reads.
Florez told SFGATE that he's faced numerous complaints from the former tenant ever since he opened the buzzy wine bar and restaurant in 2021.
A GoFundMe page with a goal of $35,000 was set up by Florez to help pay for his legal fees and has about $10,630 in donations as of Wednesday morning.
In 2022, the city of Oakland stepped in, slapping Snail Bar with violations for surpassing the allowed number of outdoor tables and for using unpermitted electric heaters on the sidewalk.
