Bikini-clad swimmer breaks silence after rescuers found her clinging to San Francisco cliffside
"I was looking at the waves and said they are so beautiful. I'm a good swimmer, but I don't usually swim there. The current was extreme. I jumped and grabbed the rock to stay there, and the water was still coming at me."
"Everything went so fast. I was on the rock and started climbing from left to right and then I realized that it wasn't a good idea, but it was the idea to save myself in the moment."
"I want to say - thank you so much. Because I now have a future because of this person."
"I thought about it. My destiny was gone in one minute."
Maxime Rancourt attempted a cold plunge at Ocean Beach but was pulled out to sea by a violent tide. Despite being a good swimmer, she was swept about 50 meters from shore. Rancourt clung to a rock as the extreme current threatened her safety. A bystander called 911, leading to a rescue operation by the San Francisco Fire Department. Rancourt expressed gratitude to the caller, stating that they saved her life and gave her a future.
