The 49ers are hosting the Denver Broncos for a joint practice to alleviate training camp monotony and prepare first-stringers for the upcoming preseason opener. Coach Kyle Shanahan prefers one-day practices and plans to collaborate with Broncos' Coach Sean Payton for an effective strategy. Several former 49ers players now on the Broncos will add excitement to the event. Although injury concerns exist, the one-day format is seen as manageable, allowing players like Dre Greenlaw and Talanoa Hufanga to showcase their skills and reconnect with their former team.
In the past, I've always done two days, and I'm always really excited by the end of the first day. I'm always wishing we didn't have to go the second day.
It's easier when it's one day than two and we'll have to be smart at some positions, said Shanahan, who will confer with Broncos counterpart Sean Payton to devise a win-win plan.
Dre's going to bring it. I felt him in pregame a couple times. It'll be good to see them, play against them. They'll be juiced up.
I had a lot of great moments, a lot of moments of injuries, but for me, it was a special place in my heart.
