Police: Two incidents of jewelry scam
Briefly

Palo Alto police are investigating two incidents of jewelry theft scams that occurred on the same day, involving elderly victims. In one case, an 80-year-old man had a ring worth over $1,000 stolen from him by a woman who pretended to ask for directions. A second incident involved a woman in her 70s who managed to keep her jewelry but experienced a similar approach from a suspicious individual. Authorities suspect a connection between these cases and prior similar scams, urging residents to stay vigilant.
When the man got home, he realized the woman had stolen his ring while trying to put the jewelry on him, Reifschneider said.
Police think these two incidents are related and are investigating whether there is any connection to similar cases in other cities.
