Meet The Pseutro, S.F.'s own blooming, local version of The Onion
"Time will tell if The Pseutro is in for the long haul, but in the few days since it's been in operation (the first post is dated Nov. 15), the satirical site has been on top of the latest city scandals and well-versed in local politics. The account's author or authors are not listed, and it has not responded to Mission Local 's request for an interview."
"'Misinterpreting federal "anti-woke" DOT policies,' reads one post. 'Muni driver is no longer awake' - a riff on recently released SFMTA footage showing a Muni operator apparently dozing while piloting the N-Judah. 'Sup. Fielder calls for investigation into Tamagotchi after beloved virtual pet dies,' reads another, in reference to Fielder's response to the tragic Waymo-inflicted death of legendary 16th street bodega cat KitKat."
An anonymous Instagram account called The Pseutro publishes satirical headlines about San Francisco politics and local scandals. The account launched Nov. 15 and amassed 286 followers within four days. Posts parody recent events and figures, including a mock Beya Alcaraz resignation, a quip about Mayor Daniel Lurie taking his first "L," a riff on SFMTA footage of an apparently dozing N-Judah operator, and a spoof involving Sup. Fielder and a Tamagotchi linked to a bodega cat's death. The account uses a logo riffing on Sutro Tower and the creators remain unidentified.
