The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors is set to review procedures for potentially removing Sheriff Christina Corpus. This process is expected to be lengthy, as articulated by Supervisor David Canepa, who emphasized the need for fairness and transparency. The initial steps involve a majority vote from supervisors to issue a "Notice of Intent," to which Corpus must respond. Public attendance at hearings remains uncertain, but a recorded "Pre-Removal Conference" will occur, leading to recommendations and possible appeal hearings if Corpus contests the decision.
This is gonna be a process that has to take a long time," Supervisor David Canepa said. "We want to make sure this is a fair, transparent, open process.
After the conference, the person who presided over it will write a recommendation to the supervisors. The board will have to vote on whether it agrees with the recommendation.
