Deputy fire chief to head public safety in Sunnyvale

Daniel Pistor has been appointed Chief of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, effective June 22. Currently the Deputy Chief of Fire Services, Pistor brings over 20 years of experience. He began his public safety career in Honolulu and joined the Sunnyvale DPS in 2003, serving in various roles including police officer and S.W.A.T. team captain. Pistor emphasizes community trust and engagement, and aims to continue building strong connections between the department and the community.
"Chief Pistor is in a unique position to lead Sunnyvale's Public Safety Department into its next chapter," said Sunnyvale City Manager Tim Kirby in a release. "Over the past 22 years, he has risen through the ranks, earning the confidence and respect of his colleagues while strengthening the department's reputation through dedicated service to our community."
