Moment Connecticut house of horrors victim is rescued after lighting fire to escape stepmom Kimberly Sullivan who held him captive for decades
"Waterbury Fire Department members rushed to reports of a fire in the western Connecticut enclave on Feb. 17, where they were met by Kimberly Sullivan holding one of her dogs."
"He later told cops that he was locked in a 9-by-8 foot room on the second floor of his home for 22 hours a day over the last two decades as his stepmom had deadbolts on the outside of his bedroom door."
Footage emerged showing the brave rescue of a 32-year-old man, who was allegedly abused and held captive by his stepmother for 20 years. On February 17, Waterbury Fire Department responded to a house fire, where Kimberly Sullivan, the stepmother, was causing a commotion. While she claimed to be assisting, her stepson was found severely malnourished—only 68 pounds—having spent much of his life confined to a tiny room. He accidentally started the fire to escape the abusive conditions, utilizing materials he had hoarded over the years.
