Minnie Mouse ears helped a teacher connect with her kindergartners. The Palisades fire incinerated her collection
Briefly

During the chaotic early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, transitional-kindergarten teacher Elizabeth Lam used Minnie Mouse ears to engage her students learning at home. Dubbed the "Disney teacher," Lam had over 30 pairs of ears, each with its own significance. However, during the Palisades fire, she had to prioritize her students' safety over her collection, ultimately evacuating them from the school as she set the ears aside. The devastation of the fire led to the loss of her ears and many memories tied to them, affecting the school community significantly.
"They became curious and engaged," Lam said. "And they were ready to learn."
"These were extra special because she bought herself a matching set of ears so we could be twins," Lam said.
