Nicole Brown, a former Westminster police officer, faces felony charges for allegedly defrauding workers' compensation by claiming a disability while leading an active lifestyle. Brown successfully collected over $600,000 after claiming a traumatic brain injury related to a work incident. However, investigations revealed that she was seen dancing at music festivals, skiing, and even running a 5K, contradicting her claims. Her stepfather, an attorney, is also charged for his role in facilitating the fraud. The case highlights issues of integrity and accountability within law enforcement.
For a police officer to engage in that kind of behavior, it's absolutely disgusting," said Kimberly Edds, the public information officer for the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
People who knew that she was on full disability witnessed her behaving in a way that was not consistent with what she was telling her department.
