3 Texas teachers allegedly taped hands of student with Down syndrome and forced him to walk in circles for hours
Briefly

A Texas special education teacher and two aides were arrested for allegedly abusing a 14-year-old student with Down syndrome. They reportedly forced him to walk in circles for over four hours and taped his hands together. Surveillance footage revealed the abuse, leading to an investigation initiated by the boy's grandmother. The teacher defended her actions, claiming it was common practice to make misbehaving students walk, reflecting a troubling disregard for the child's well-being and highlighting serious ethical issues within the educational environment.
It's not going to hurt them to stand for four hours or to walk,” Haas, the special education teacher, said during an interview with police the day before her arrest.
Tryon, with Gutierrez's assistance, used packing tape to bind the student's hands together so his fingers couldn't move. Haas later added more tape to tighten the wrapping.
