After three decades, The Residents unveil Doctor Dark, a new studio album and three-act opera. This work marks the group’s return since 2020’s Metal, Meat & Bone and showcases their distinctive mix of heavy metal with avant-garde and symphonic elements. The narrative intertwines historical references to tragic events surrounding suicide and euthanasia, encapsulating themes of misery, life, and the unknown. The band employs a theatrical touch with gallows humor in exploring these weighty topics. Plans for a tour are hinted at for 2025, following the loss of co-founder Hardy Fox in 2018.
