Review: Here's why 50,000 Grateful Dead fans were smiling on Friday

The 60th anniversary celebration of the Grateful Dead at Golden Gate Park attracted 55,000 fans, including both old and new generations of Deadheads. Dead & Company, featuring members like Bob Weir and John Mayer, performed 16 songs over three hours. Noteworthy moments included a welcome by Trixie Garcia on her father Jerry's birthday. Despite the performance not being considered primetime Dead & Company, the event was well-received with plenty of joy and nostalgia among attendees.
The joy was simply overwhelming as some 55,000 Deadheads turned out to Night 1 of the three-day celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Bay Area's own Grateful Dead.
Dead & Company, featuring longtime Dead members, has kept the Grateful Dead spirit alive with performances including two lengthy residences at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
