The Whale's Tail is a seasonal open-air destination in JFK Promenade at Golden Gate Park offering live music, food and drinks, community programming, and relaxing afternoons. The event runs on Saturdays and Sundays and on select holidays beginning Memorial Day weekend, with the 2026 season starting May 23. Hours are noon to 6pm during summer, plus select holiday Mondays. The venue features a rotating lineup of musical acts, weekly free yoga in the park, and special theme weekends for a wide range of park-goers. Admission and entertainment are free for all ages, and guests can buy cold and hot drinks and food from rotating local food trucks. The space is family- and dog-friendly and welcomes dogs and bikes.
