Angel Deradoorian, ex-member of Dirty Projectors, is set to release her first solo album since 2020, titled 'Ready for Heaven,' on May 9. The album features singles such as 'Digital Gravestone' and 'Set Me Free,' highlighting her diverse sound and societal commentary. Co-produced with Sonny DiPerri, the album includes contributions from other musicians like saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi. Deradoorian described the work as reflecting on the erosion of humanity and an anti-capitalist perspective on identity labels. After her last solo project, she collaborated with Kate NV on the band Decisive Pink, releasing 'Ticket to Fame' in 2023.
This album is partly about watching humanity erode, it’s about mental struggle, and it’s avowedly anti-capitalist. Would we have all these identity labels, if we didn't live in a capitalist world?
Deradoorian co-produced Ready for Heaven with Sonny DiPerri, and its themes explore deep societal issues intertwined with personal struggles.
