US Foods Chef'Store settles complaint alleging false advertising, overcharging at Northern California stores
Briefly

US Foods Chef'Store has agreed to pay $250,000 to settle allegations of false advertising and overcharging customers at its Bay Area and Northern California locations. The complaint, filed by district attorneys from several counties, claimed the store's pricing practices misled consumers about the lowest advertised prices. Additionally, it was alleged that the grocer charged customers a California Redemption Value on ineligible products. The settlement underscores a commitment to consumer rights and the enforcement of fair pricing regulations.
"Our Environmental and Consumer Law Division is committed to ensuring businesses charge consumers their lowest advertised or posted price as required by state law," said Sonoma County District Attorney Carla Rodriguez in a prepared statement.
"California customers should never be charged more than the lowest amount listed on the advertisement, price tag, or shelf," said San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.
