Sukiya, Japan's largest beef bowl chain, is temporarily closing nearly 2,000 outlets for four days starting March 31 due to serious contamination issues. The closures follow a public apology for serving miso soup containing a rodent found at a western Japan store in January. Additionally, the company reported another incident where a bug was found in a dish at a Tokyo location. As a precaution, Sukiya will shut down operations to prevent further issues and ensure food safety before reopening on April 4.
Sukiya said in a statement, 'We take very seriously the fact that this incident has occurred. We deeply apologize to our customers.'
The company announced that all of its 1,965 locations in Japan, except for a few in shopping malls, would close to address health safety issues.
