Lauded Bay Area chef closes second Oakland restaurant in 2 years
Briefly

It is with deep appreciation, gratitude, and of course sadness that I have to announce Duende's closure.
Canales always wanted to combine three of his passions in one space - food, art, and music - but was never sure it would work.
[Canales] said that the business just wasn't sustainable; however, he did tell Eater SF that the city of Oakland needs to start prioritizing small-business owners.
I live in Oakland, I love it here, But the city needs to get their act together and they need to get serious about taking significant action to support the business community and their citizens.
