Former Zuni Cafe chef's tiny SF sandwich shop is closing
Briefly

Turner's Kitchen, a popular sandwich shop in the Mission District run by former Zuni Cafe chef Ken Turner, is closing its doors after a decade of serving the community. Known for its rotating menu of about 20 sandwiches and daily specials featuring seasonal produce, the shop became a favorite for Dolores Park picnickers. Turner announced the closure on Instagram, citing a burdensome workload and a desire to 'lighten my load,' as he prepares to take a break from the restaurant business. The shop will close on March 31, with Turner not seeking to sell the business for potential future reopening.
"It was a difficult decision but ultimately I just want to lighten my load. I've normalized a 50 hour work week that balloons to 70+ with private dining and catering."
"I used to be so proud of my work ethic and while the accomplishments and memories have made it more than worth it, it's time to slow down, get lost in the woods, smell the fckin roses and have some fun."
