FDA sounds alarm on 'potentially deadly' Bay Area chocolate
Briefly

The FDA has classified a recall of chocolates by Cal Yee Farms as a Class 1, indicating serious health risks due to undeclared allergens, specifically milk. The affected products include dark chocolate almonds, apricots, and walnuts, which can pose life-threatening risks to individuals with allergies. Initially recalled on December 12, the recall includes various other items with potential undeclared allergens. Rather than alerting consumers, the family-owned business has yet to respond to inquiries following their statement acknowledging the voluntary recall initiated after an inspection. Their products were distributed across several states.
People who consume these products and have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, soy, wheat, sesame or almonds are at risk of serious or life-threatening reactions.
The agency warned that people with allergies who consume the products could face serious adverse health consequences or death because the chocolates contain milk that was undeclared.
