Berkeley sandwich stalwart Gregoire launches its first franchise in the Inner Sunset
Briefly

Grégoire, known for gourmet sandwiches, is expanding to San Francisco's Inner Sunset after 23 successful years in Berkeley. Founded in 2002 by Grégoire Jacquet and Tara, the original location built a loyal clientele with its innovative takeout offerings, especially its famous potato puffs. In 2022, the couple decided to franchise to support business growth. The Inner Sunset location was chosen for its ideal traffic and proximity to key city attractions, with franchisees motivated by a shared passion for quality food.
Grégoire, a gourmet sandwich spot that has served Berkeley for 23 years, is opening its first San Francisco location - a franchise - in the Inner Sunset in November.
After scouring locations all over the Bay Area, the Inner Sunset space stood out to Jacquet as "perfect." The space was previously occupied by Jamba Juice and has been vacant for about a year.
Jacquet and his wife Tara opened the original Grégoire down the street from Chez Panisse, in Berkeley, in 2002. The food, particularly Grégoire's ping-pong sized potato puffs, gained a devoted following.
Jacquet decided that franchising was the way to go. The food could come from a central kitchen in Emeryville, which would keep quality consistent.
