Beloved 'land' in Disneyland to be renamed, park says. What's behind the change?
Briefly

Critter Country will be renamed Bayou Country, aligning with the reimagined Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride opening on Nov. 15, Disneyland officials announced.
Bayou Country will feature rides like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes, along with the reopened Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.
Disneyland described Bayou Country as an area 'situated on the edge of New Orleans Square with shady trees, mesmerizing music and a vast collection of enchanting surprises.'
In the 1970s, the land was named Bear Country and was known as Critter Country since the 1988 opening of Splash Mountain, prior to this change.
