Utah Republicans ignore study supporting gender-affirming care for trans youth. It's research they demanded
Briefly

A state-commissioned report concluded that gender-affirming hormone therapy significantly improves mental health and reduces suicide risk among transgender minors. Despite these findings, Utah's Republican leaders, who previously claimed the need for data to support their ban on such treatments, remain unresponsive and are refusing to reconsider the policy. The more than 1,000-page report contradicts earlier claims made by lawmakers and reveals an abundance of research supporting the efficacy of gender-affirming care, highlighting the disparities between political actions and medical evidence.
The more than 1,000-page report... was required by S.B. 16... At the time, Republican Gov. Spencer Cox called the law a "nuanced" approach and insisted the state needed more data.
The study found over 230 primary studies involving 28,056 trans youth - "far exceeding" the evidence that typically supports FDA approval for high-risk pediatric treatments.
