Thousands of trans protestors hold a dance party outside the Heritage Foundation - LGBTQ Nation
Briefly

Marchers voiced their opposition to Project 2025, the conservative plan to reduce personal liberty and consolidate executive power if Donald Trump wins a second term. They demanded bodily autonomy, emphasizing the necessity of access to gender-affirming healthcare and reproductive justice. This demonstration was a strong response to increased threats against queer and abortion rights, showcasing the urgency of the fight for personal liberties.
It was important for us to have that moment in front of the Heritage Foundation as a way to bring our queer joy right to their offices and show that no matter what they have planned, they will not win, they will not break us or our spirit, said co-organizer Eliel Cruz. This statement reflects the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community amidst rising conservative policies.
According to the Trans Legislation Tracker, 658 anti-trans bills have been introduced nationwide in 2024. Meanwhile, the Center for Reproductive Rights reports that 14 states have implemented near-total abortion bans. This staggering increase in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation underscores the clear and present danger to personal liberties in the current socio-political landscape.
