Stafford Pride has expressed serious concerns about the Redeemed Christian Church of God's (RCCG) recent approval to convert a former cinema in Stafford into a place of worship. They condemned the church's homophobic agenda, which contradicts the town's values of openness and acceptance. Taylor-Walker, the chairman of Stafford Pride, conveyed his horror at the church's views and reaffirmed the organization's commitment to fighting homophobia. He expressed a willingness to engage with the church but insisted that they will not compromise on their stance against discrimination.
The RCCG has a disturbingly specific homophobic and anti-LGBTQ+ agenda and set of beliefs, which we stand steadfast against. As a town, Stafford is very open, loving and welcoming.
I'm horrified by the church's incredibly hateful views. We won't give up on what we do. We will always call homophobia out because we don't accept it in our town.
