Since at least the fall of 2023, Russian drones have ravaged Beryslav, a small city near Kherson in southern Ukraine, wreaking havoc and destruction during countless attacks.
DW's investigative team conducted dozens of interviews with Ukrainian officials, war analysts, drone experts, and survivors of drone attacks, highlighting the indiscriminate use of those drones against civilians.
In Beryslav and its surrounding areas, over a hundred drone strikes have been reported, which resulted in nearly 130 civilians injured and 16 fatalities between September 2023 and July 2024.
The use of First Person View (FPV) drones in the conflict has become increasingly pivotal, showcasing their dual role as both surveillance and weapons delivery platforms in modern warfare.
