Briefly

At the 36th annual GLAAD Media Awards, rapper Doechii, an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, condemned the political attacks targeting the transgender community. Accepting the Outstanding Music Artist award, she highlighted GLAAD's foundational values of acceptance and empowerment. Doechii expressed her discontent with recent actions by political leaders that threaten the rights of transgender individuals. As she celebrated her award, she reinforced her commitment to advocacy, expressing the strong presence and resilience of the transgender community amid challenges.
This organisation was founded on the principles of acceptance, inclusiveness and empowerment and those are the same things that I strongly believe in and advocate for.
Especially now that hard won cultural change and rights for transgender people and the LGBTQ+ community have been threatened, and I'm disgusted. Disgusted.
The support and love that I'm feeling as I accept this award from GLAAD is truly overwhelming and uplifting.
