Jake Williamson, a 27-year-old athlete, has set a new world record in the Hyrox Elite 15 competition in Berlin, finishing with a time of 47 minutes 57 seconds alongside his partner Fabian Eisenlauer. The competition combines various intense physical tasks like running, indoor skiing, and rowing. As the only openly gay male athlete in this elite event, Williamson expressed the honor and responsibility he feels in representing both himself and the LGBTQ+ community, aspiring to inspire others to embrace their authenticity in sports and beyond. He is now preparing for the upcoming Hyrox World Championships in Chicago.
It feels a lot worse than it looks.
It's a unique position in pro-sports, and I vow to do my best to be a role model for this community.
