Connor Lees, a 29-year-old firefighter with the Los Angeles Fire Department, was found deceased three months after vanishing during a free diving excursion with friends. He went missing on December 4, 2024, while diving in the Port of Long Beach. A search operation was initiated but transitioned to recovery due to poor visibility and time elapsed since he was last seen. He served at Fire Station 94 B Platoon for six years and was honored in the mourning messages from the LAFD and his community, with a GoFundMe raising over $75,000 for his family.
The firefighter was off-duty and diving in the Port of Long Beach with his friends when he first disappeared on Dec. 4, 2024.
After a 19-hour "highly technical search" the rescue transitioned to a recovery operation on Dec. 5, 2024, the Long Beach Fire Department said.
The LAFD stands united in grief alongside Firefighter Lees' family, friends, and colleagues. We extend our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him.
As of Sunday morning, a GoFundMe fundraiser from Lees' family has raised over $75,000.
