One person has died and at least 41 people were wounded on Sunday afternoon when a Russian guided bomb struck a multi-storey residential building in Kharkiv, mayor Ihor Terekhov said. The bomb hit the 10th floor of the building, causing a fire that spread across four storeys. A 94-year-old woman's body was recovered from the ninth floor. Additionally, 12 other buildings were damaged, indicating the extensive impact of this attack on the civilian infrastructure.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy emphasized the urgency of rescuing those trapped under the rubble of the 12-storey building, stating that three children were among the 35 injured. He called for a shift in Western policy regarding long-range weapons, arguing that such capabilities are essential to counter daily airstrikes by Russia, which he described as terror. Zelenskiy urged Western partners to recognize Ukraine's need for modern military support to effectively address the ongoing conflict.
