Musk denies that U.S. will drop Starlink support for Ukraine over minerals
Briefly

Recent reports suggested that the U.S. government might pressure Ukraine by threatening to turn off SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet unless it agrees to a minerals deal. This assertion was firmly denied by Elon Musk, who labeled the reports as false and criticized the media outlet for misleading information. Starlink is vital for Ukraine's military operations, providing connectivity during the ongoing conflict with Russia. Despite the government's rumored proposal linked to a $500 billion mineral contract, Musk's statement leaves the situation largely unresolved, emphasizing the strategic importance of Starlink for Ukraine.
On Saturday, a report cited three unnamed sources that claimed U.S. negotiators had brought up the possibility of turning off Starlink in Ukraine, after President Volodymyr Zelenskiy rejected a proposal earlier this month from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
In a post on X on Saturday following the report, Musk denied the claims, saying that the publication was lying. 'This is false,' Musk wrote in the post. 'Reuters is lying. They are second only to AP (Associated Propaganda) as legacy news liars.'
