See photos as hardy runners take part in annual Tralee 40-mile Ultra Marathon takes
Forty-four runners completed the Tralee 40-Mile Ultra Marathon despite unfavorable weather. The event, organized by Jim McNeice and the Tralee Marathon group, drew participants locally and from further afield. The course consisted of ten four-mile loops starting at the FBD House. Runners traveled along the River Lee walkway to Caherweesheen and Clahane, went down at Ballyard, returned to the River Lee walkway, and began each loop again at FBD House. In the men’s results, Aidan Hogan won in 05:18:03, followed by Darren O’Sullivan in 05:35:43 and Donal Fallon in 05:52:52. In the women’s results, Paula Wright won in 06:44:46, followed by Sara Akinrinbola in 07:07:52 and Liz Leonard in 07:17:46. Aidan Hogan and Paula Wright each won every race in the Tralee Triple Crown Ultra Series. The next event is the Tralee 100k on June 20.
