Hochul nixes MTA's marathon scheme: Letters to the Editor - April 9, 2024
Briefly

Kudos to Gov. Hochul for nixing the insane bridge fee and putting the MTA in its place. Nothing says 'New York City reasoning' more than stopping drivers from using a bridge built for them and surrendering it to runners who think they're immortal.
Extorting money from innocent motorists through congestion pricing to subsidize the MTA wasn't enough. The MTA has means within its system to tighten finances, such as clamping down on fare evasion and making transit users pay instead of drivers or runners.
Although events like marathons generate revenue, critics pointed out the costs involved in terms of police enforcement, traffic diversion inconvenience, and air pollution. The high salary of the NYRRC CEO, a nonprofit organization, was highlighted in comparison to some major corporations' CEOs.
