The trail running scene is distinctively grassroots, where community and individual experiences matter most, providing a refreshing contrast to the competitive nature of road racing.
As I transitioned from college racing to trail running, I found that the dirt paths and rugged terrain allowed for a freedom and adventure that the track simply couldn't offer.
Reflecting on my journey from high school to ultrarunning, I've recognized how the trails have consistently provided an escape and a fulfilling experience beyond the formal races.
While I appreciate the growth of trail running, it’s crucial that any advancements maintain the sport's quirky and community-oriented essence that attracted so many to it.
