Colin Farrell ran the Dublin marathon pushing Emma Fogarty, a 40-year-old survivor of epidermolysis bullosa (EB), raising £774,000 for the charity Debra Ireland to support those with this rare skin condition.
Farrell shared his perspective, emphasizing that despite the extreme pain associated with EB, individuals like Emma do not live as victims but rather embrace life fully, enhancing their resilience and spirit.
Reflecting on his friendship with Emma, Farrell stated, "She epitomises bravery; she is what courage and pure determination are all about. That run was nothing compared to the pain she is forced to endure every single day."
After the marathon, Farrell expressed gratitude for the support received during the event, suggesting it invigorated him and increased his pace, highlighting the power of community in such efforts.
