Research from the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) reveals a staggering 327% increase in violent threats and calls for impeachment against US judges on social media over the past year. Many posts include incendiary language, with users calling for judges to be charged with treason and making derogatory comments. Prominent figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk have contributed to this toxic environment by sharing inflammatory rhetoric about the judiciary, particularly targeting judges who rule against the current administration. The threats, once confined to fringe websites, have now infiltrated mainstream platforms like TikTok and X.
"THIS JUDGE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED AND CHARGED W TREASON," one user posted on TikTok in March, referring to Judge James Boasberg.
"That bitch is guilty of treason, sedition and insurrection; lock up that bitch and send her to gitmo," Old School Cowboy wrote about Judge Jennifer Thurston on Gab.
GPAHE researchers found that violent threats and calls for impeachment against judges are now openly shared on mainstream platforms like TikTok.
Trump called Judge Boasberg a 'radical left lunatic' who 'should be IMPEACHED!!!' and Musk labeled court rulings as a 'judicial coup.'
