The U.S. agreed to lift some sanctions against the Venezuelan regime in exchange for guarantees of greater electoral freedoms for the 2024 presidential elections.
The Venezuelan regime did not fulfill their part of the agreement, causing the U.S. to release a businessman accused of money laundering to pressure Maduro to comply.
