Sister Francis Dominici Piscatella, who at 112 years old is recognized as the world's oldest nun, emphasizes the importance of lifelong teaching and serving others as keys to longevity. Celebrating her 94 years of service, she draws on her experiences growing up in an Italian immigrant family, where generosity and faith were central values. Piscatella's life, marked by resilience after losing her arm at a young age, reflects her belief in self-sufficiency and the spiritual fulfillment from helping people, portraying a life dedicated to her faith and community.
"Teach until you die," Piscatella, who celebrated her birthday in late April, told The Post.
"You have to be a saint before you get to heaven."
"For some reason, God doesn't want me yet," the longstanding member of the Dominican order said. "I feel normal. I never gave my age a thought, it just happened to be."
"My mother wouldn't let them help me because 'you're not always going to have your sisters, so you better just shape up and do things for yourself.'"
