Briefly

George Foreman, the legendary boxer known for his historic fights including the Rumble in the Jungle against Muhammad Ali, passed away at the age of 76. Beyond the boxing ring, he was a preacher, father, and successful entrepreneur, notably for his famous grill. His family described him as a devoted husband and grandfather, embodying faith and humility. Foreman's complex journey included five marriages and twelve children, reflecting a commitment to family unity through his unique naming of all his sons. His life story is marked by resilience and reinvention, from boxing champion to beloved public figure.
"A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand- and great-grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility and purpose," his family wrote on Instagram.
"People trust me," Foreman once told USA Today of the zigs and zags in his colorful and varied career. "I sell sincerity."
He didn't start out being George Foreman. His biological father was Leroy Moorehead, but his mother married J.D. Foreman when George was a toddler, and raised him, along with six siblings, as a Foreman.
I named all my sons George Edward Foreman so they would always have something in common. I say to them, 'If one of us goes up, then we all go up together, and if one goes down, we all go down together.'
