Thousands more people are moving into Vermont than moving away
Briefly

The recent study shows Vermont's net in-migration rate surged post-pandemic, making it a top destination for higher-income earners seeking remote work and outdoor activities.
Treasurer Mike Pieciak noted, 'It's clear that the people who are moving to Vermont are higher-income earners... they are bringing their remote jobs with them to Vermont.'
The analysis revealed that Vermont had a net gain of 7,592 new residents in 2023, primarily from Massachusetts, and recorded the highest net in-migration in New England.
Pieciak pointed out that while migration to Vermont is a positive trend, it simultaneously brings attention to the state's ongoing affordable housing challenges.
