Republicans promise to end remote work for federal employees
Briefly

"The federal government pays for too much square footage for office space," said Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.). He believes that more federal workers need to return to the office to improve government services.
"If you're a senior having trouble with Social Security, it's almost impossible to get someone on the phone," Comer added, highlighting the issues created by remote work when citizens need assistance.
The Federal Workers Union maintains that telework has significantly enhanced productivity and efficiency, countering the claims made by incoming administration officials about the need for in-person work.
"This is probably something that's going to head to court," said Comer, indicating the likelihood of legal challenges against the incoming administration's plan to require federal workers to return to in-person work.
