Philadelphia mayor demands all city employees return to office: 'More visible'

Employee presence at the workplace allows for more personal and productive interactions, facilitates communication, promotes social connection, along with collaboration, innovation and inclusion, Mayor Parker said.

The city will, however, permit occasional remote work to address periodic life circumstances, according to a press release.

A separate survey found 80% of companies will start tracking office attendance, with consequences like shrinking bonuses, changing benefits, and salary reductions. One-third are willing to fire non-compliant employees.
