OPM demands agencies comply with Trump's telework order within 30 days
Briefly

The Office of Personnel Management has set a 30-day deadline for federal agencies to implement President Trump's memo requiring employees to return to in-person work full-time. The memo, issued on Trump’s first day in office, has caused confusion regarding the distinction between telework and remote work. Agencies are instructed to revise their policies accordingly while allowing exemptions for certain employees. Max Stier of the Partnership for Public Service voiced concerns over the lack of clarity in the executive order, highlighting the ambiguity surrounding the return to the office requirement.
"We don't have a lot of clarity about what exactly they mean here, especially on the return to office," stated Max Stier, president of the Partnership for Public Service.
Acting OPM Director Charles Ezell instructed agencies to revise their telework policies to reflect that employees must work full time at their respective duty stations.
