Jassy's announcement implies a shift back to a pre-pandemic work model, as he noted that while there might be some allowances for personal circumstances, employees will no longer have the flexibility to work from home two days a week without a valid reason.
The return-to-office directive aligns Amazon with a trend among other tech companies, which have been refining their remote work policies, with firms like SAP, AT&T, and Dell also reversing more flexible arrangements.
The decision has sparked pushback among some workers, leading to protests and threats of quitting, as the enforced return-to-office policy raises concerns about work-life balance.
