Twitter will allow many employees to work from home permanently if their roles permit, while roles requiring physical presence, such as maintaining servers, will still require on-site attendance. The company transitioned to remote work in early March as the coronavirus spread and prioritized employee and community safety. A decentralized, distributed workforce model enables employees to work from anywhere. Employees in roles that support permanent remote work can choose to continue working from home indefinitely. Offices will remain available with additional precautions when it is safe to return. Managers and employees who were previously hesitant about remote work are discovering it can be effective and sustainable. Other major tech firms also adopted remote policies.
