The digital nomad visa is good for one year and open to professionals who are already established as remote workers. You don't have to be self-employed to qualify; employees who work remotely may also be eligible.
Unlike other visas, the digital nomad visa has relatively few requirements such as proof of €28,000 in annual income, work contract or proof of virtual employment, accommodation in Italy, and health insurance with €30,000+ coverage.
The uncertainty lies in what being 'highly skilled' means for the visa. Proof like a college diploma, resume, or experience may be required, but each consulate might interpret this differently.
