"Marriage counsellors have warned couples who both work under the same roof find it harder to avoid stress and rows than those who have a daily commute to the office or workplace. Dublin-based therapist Wendy Quinn told the Sunday Independent as many as seven out of 10 couples who have turned to her for help since the start of the year have identified remote working as a major factor behind their sexless relationships."
"If you're with your partner or spouse round-the-clock every day, you can soon start to get in each other's way, and become sick of the sight of each other. You are also likely to have fewer conversations because there are less things to talk about. And if one of the partners is not pulling their weight in terms of house chores, this can put even more stress on the relationship and lead to rows and arguments."
Couples who both work from home face increased stress, more frequent arguments, and diminished sexual intimacy when sharing the same living space. Remote working has been identified by many couples seeking counselling as a major factor in sexless relationships, with some partners reporting they now send emails in bed instead of being intimate. Constant proximity can lead to irritation, fewer conversations due to fewer shared external experiences, and disputes over household chores that amplify tension. Cramped homes intensify these problems. Couples with a daily commute or hybrid arrangements generally report better relationship quality and an improved sex drive.
